Dr.
Kronhaus is well known as for developing innovative ways of providing
care
to underserved populations. "Our housecall practice helps people who
have a hard time getting to the
doctor," says Dr. Kronhaus. "They are busy
executives, over-committed parents, and older individuals who rely
on others to take them to the doctor. They are people who just don't
have good access to care, despite the resources available in the
community."
The concept of providing physician services on a temporary
basis, known as locum tenens, emerged from Dr. Kronhaus interest in
providing care to underserved populations. It catapulted him to
national prominence as the founder and ceo of KRON Medical, and the
driving force behind the billion dollar locum tenens industry.
Dr. Kronhaus has published numerous papers in
peer-reviewed
academic journals, a book on career counseling for physicians, and has
presented scholarly papers at conferences and conventions
nationwide. Dr.
Kronhaus sold KRON Medical in 1993, and retired two years later at the
age of 46 to become a stay-at-home dad. His wife finally coaxed him out
of retirement in the summer of 2002, to implement her vision of a
medical group practice devoted exclusively to making
housecalls.
